About Me

Qiaomu Shen 申乔木

I am a Ph.D. student at VisLab, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. My supervisor is Prof. Huamin Qu. I got my bachelor and master degree at College of Computer Science, Sichuan University in June 2012, under the supervision of Prof. Min Zhu.

My research interests include Graph Visualization, explainable AI, and Urban Informatics.

Projects

Fine-grained air quality prediction based on ensemble models

Sub-project of Personalised Real-Time Air Quality Informatics System for Exposure(PRAISE-HK Link), we leverage the data-driven method to predict air pollutant concentration and analyze the model performance.
  • Short-term air quality prediction: an RNN-based model for the short-term air quality prediction based on the heterogeneous data(including traffic, meteorology, air quality, social media, demographics, etc.).
  • Analytics of the model bias, interactively generate strategies to combine the forecast result of different models.

Visual analytics of human-scale urban forms

In this project, we extract the fine-grained urban features from the google street view images and implement a visual analytics system enable users to explore the urban form from different levels freely.

Visual Exploration of the Indoor Mobility Data (sub-project of Hong Kong ITF)

We implement a visual exploration system to analyze the human mobility patterns in the metro station, predict the emergency situation and help the officer to figure out the emergency measures. The data is captured from the CCTV cameras.

Visual analytics of scholars relations

Collaborate with the Library of HKUST; this project aims at analyzing the collaboration among scholars.
